Virtustant Publishes LATAM Remote Salary Expectations 2026 Study

Oct 21, 2026

New applicant-side research from Virtustant examines requested pay at application across 17 Latin American countries and self-reported English levels, based on about 30,000 applications received between July 1 and September 12, 2026.

St. Petersburg, Florida, October 21, 2026 -- Virtustant, a remote staffing agency based in St. Petersburg, Florida, published LATAM Remote Salary Expectations 2026 on September 17, 2026, an applicant-side study of the hourly pay remote professionals in Latin America request when they apply for US-based remote roles. The study draws on about 30,000 applications from 17 Latin American countries received between July 1 and September 12, 2026, and reports requested pay at application, recorded before recruiter contact. This is a self-selected applicant sample, not a measure of accepted pay.

The regional average requested pay at application across the sample is about $9 per hour, roughly $1,557 per month using a 173-hour monthly reporting convention. Country averages vary widely: about $5.50 per hour in Venezuela and about $12.75 per hour in Mexico, with Argentina and Colombia averaging about $9.25 and Brazil about $11.25. The full breakdown by country and English level appears in the LATAM Remote Salary Expectations 2026 report.

The study also splits requested pay at application by self-reported English proficiency. Applicants who selected C1, C2 or native English ask for about $10.00 per hour in Colombia, $10.50 in Argentina and $13.25 in Mexico. The difference between applicants reporting B1 and C2 English is about $1.75 per hour in Venezuela, $3.75 in Argentina and $4.00 in Colombia.

Kevin Wright, Co-Founder of Virtustant, said: "Country averages tell you where to search, not what to pay. Build the budget around the role, the hours you need covered and the skills you can verify, then compare real candidates."

The country-by-country and English-level breakdowns give US business owners a starting point for budgeting a remote hire, rather than a fixed rate for any individual candidate. Businesses evaluating markets across the region can review country-specific hiring information through Hire Remote Talent by Country, which lists coverage across Virtustant's placement regions.

Virtustant places remote professionals from Latin America, South Africa and the Philippines with US companies, in assistant, customer service, sales and bookkeeping roles. Additional information about the company's services is available at Virtustant.
