Pensacola, Fla. – As the United States looks forward to the holidays, locals and small business owners alike take this time to come together and provide relief for those less fortunate in their community. A Pensacola mattress store, Mattress Outlet, is no exception. Joining forces with the local food pantry, Manna Food Bank, the company hosted a food drive at their 2 locations in Northwest Florida.
The food drive began on Saturday, October 24th,2020. Due to the combined effects of the COVID-19 crisis and Hurricane Sally, the area has seen quite an increase in the need for food assistance. To offer their community some additional incentive to donate, Mattress Outlet offered a 5% discount on any purchase with every donation provided. While every non-perishable donation was gratefully accepted, some items are in greater need. Donations of Chicken and Tuna (canned and pouches), microwaveable dinners, canned fruit, vegetables, and beans, oatmeal, and peanut butter were specifically requested.
While the food drive came to a close in early December, the Pensacola bed store is still accepting donations at either of their 2 locations and encouraging members of their community to contribute to the cause. “In these times, it’s so important to come together, not only as individuals but as a community to pick each other up,” said a representative of the company.
Manna Food Bank is a local grassroots organization working to end hunger in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Northwest Florida. The food pantry provides groceries directly to individuals and families in their community in need. The services are all offered free of charge and with no government funding or no national affiliation, they rely heavily on their community for support.
Mattress Outlet is a locally owned and operated mattress and furniture store. The company has been serving the Emerald Coast since 2006, offering exceptional customer service and quality mattresses at an affordable price.
