After 13 years studying the effect of FM and offering professional support Peter Atkin is launching a brand new book, “FibroMyalgia – The Support Effect”. This is the third book Peter Atkin has authored. The book was written with the aim in mind to Help every sufferer of fibromyalgia explain to partners and family what they go through on a daily basis. And for family members to learn about the management and support they can give. There’s excitement around this book launch because it will fill in the concerns and worries of partners and family members to be able to cope and improve relationships whilst building a better life together taken from a new and realistic experienced approach.
FibroMyalgia – The Support Effect sets its main focus on offering a real insight to what a FM sufferers have to endure. It offers valuable support mechanisms. Readers will likely find a particular interest in the theme – ‘why it’s not you it’s fibro. Chase away the difficult times!’ The book’s cover art was created by Danny Howard who assisted Peter with his self published book.
Peter Atkin has a background of 13 years experience with supporting fibromyalgia sufferers. This helped shaped the creation of the book through Peters counselling work and the enjoyment of seeing success from that work.
When asked about why he wrote the book, Atkin said: “Because my partner Lynn has worked so hard together with me to overcome a terrifying condition and take control of her life instead of it controlling her”
Atkin has hopes that the book will help others gain that control and see the difference between unhelpful behaviour and a supportive relationship. This positive outlook from the author is certainly testament to his optimism considering some of the stresses during its creation. There were several stages that I had to push through such as an interview to reveal my true feelings over the writing process for a podcast and working out how to finish the detail in the book ready for publishing. But getting the project finished and listed made it satisfying and completely worthwhile.
In a recent interview, the author made a point of thanking Danny Howard for his work to help this and the website come to fruition and to his partner Lynn for her invaluable input into the book alongside the many FM contacts that have shared their trust and genuine friendship to help each other find better ways forward.
