Beijing, China, October 17, 2026 -- Xinhua Publishing House is showcasing the Chinese and the “2025 China Yearbook” at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.

First published in 1981, “China Yearbook” provides comprehensive information and authoritative data on contemporary China. Its English version covers China’s national conditions, political party system, state institutions and other key topics, serving as a reference for scholars, research institutions and readers worldwide. The English version of the “2025 China Yearbook” runs to more than one million words and contains over 100 photographs.
In 2025, nearly 100 university libraries added the yearbook to their collections, reflecting its use as a reference for research on China.
The 2025 edition also incorporates reader feedback through a streamlined redesign that makes its extensive content easier to navigate.

During the fair, Xinhua Publishing House presented Cord Eberspächer, a German sinologist at the University of Bonn, with copies of the English editions of the “2025 China Yearbook” and “China’s Governance Under Xi Jinping’s Leadership.” Chinese editions of both books were presented to Christina Werum-Wang, executive director of the Confucius Institute Frankfurt.
Xinhua Publishing House was one of 10 Chinese publishing organizations that took part in a book presentation and donation ceremony on October 8. About 50 representatives of the publishing and cultural sectors in China and Germany attended. The publications presented covered traditional culture, the humanities, social sciences, technology and the arts.
The display and book presentations highlight the yearbook’s role as a reference for international audiences seeking to understand contemporary China. They also provide an opportunity for Xinhua Publishing House to strengthen contacts with Germany’s academic, publishing and cultural communities.
Xinhua Publishing House welcomes cooperation with publishers, distributors, booksellers, literary agents and other organizations interested in making the yearbook available to a wider international readership.
