Providing comfort to prostate cancer warriors and their wives and caregivers, PROSTAID Calgary announces that its September monthly meeting will take place on the 20th at 7:30 p.m. at the CKE Community Center. The social community welfare meeting will talk about prostate cancer, how to manage it once diagnosed, and the importance of making a personalized list of health and medical information.

More details can be found at https://prostaid.org/meetings/

Following the announcement, PROSTAID Calgary invites cancer warriors to RSVP to secure their spot and help the group know how many people will be attending. The organization further states that these monthly meetings are ideal places to network, share knowledge and experience of the disease, and provide personal support for each other.

The theme for this month’s meeting is “Prostate Cancer Awareness”, and will discuss the importance of creating a personalized list of medical information before and after diagnosis. This is so that emergency responders know what drugs to administer or procedures to implement during a medical crisis.

Cancer warriors should work with their caregivers and doctors to make an easy-to-find and understandable list of all health information, including all the medicines that are currently being taken. This can be as simple as a basic list to as comprehensive as a dossier of medical information. Warriors are reminded that the more extensive their list is, the more informed responders and medical professionals will be during an emergency.

It is also a good idea for this list to contain the exact dates of previous medical visits and checkups, including a basic summary of what occurred during the session.

The speaker for the September meeting is still to be announced. However, all meetings always feature a medical guest speaker or healthcare professional. Guests will have time to ask questions.

Walk-ins are welcomed.

A spokesperson for the group said, "PROSTAID Calgary generally meets once a month for a General Meeting available free of charge to all. We also support specialized meetings every month for Warriors and Wives & Caregivers groups. We would love to see you there."
